Kandy


Kandy is the capital of the central province and also it was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. Kandy is the home of the Temple of the tooth relic (Sri Dhaladha maligawa) and it was the palace of the last king Sir Wikrama Rajasinha in Sri Lanka. In 1988 Sri Dhaladha maligawa was named by Unesco as world heritage. This royal palace is nowadays is a museum. Lankathilaka temple is one of the best examples of architecture of the traditional Sinhalese temple built on top of the rock. In the inner of the temple it has a colossal seated image of the Buddha. Kandy is famous for another traditional event that is famous in all around the world. It is the major and also traditional parahara event called as the Esala Perahara. Which one of the inner caskets used for covering the tooth relic of Buddha is taken in a grand procession through the streets of the city. This caskets is taken on by royal tusk. This event is glorious and also every Srilankan heart touched occasion. This perahara occasion is annually held in July or august months. Attracts large crowds from all parts of the country and also many foreign tourists.

Peradeniya


Peradeniya is famous for the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya. This wellknown garden is situated on the slope of the river Mahavali and all around the world so many visitors attract for it.it is the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka.147 acres contain the total herbariums. It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees and it’s maintain by Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture. Most of the species are Specific to our motherland. The other major point is the University of Peradeniya is the second oldest university that Sri Lanka have. The architecture of the buildings that university have belonged to the Sri Lankan own tradition and also mixed with South Asian architecture. Surrounded by mountain ranges and Hanthana is one of the eye catching and valuable mountain. The ancient town named Kadugannawa is in the western part of the town.
